Indeed "I am good" sounds a bit American English, "I am good" could also be used to joke (word pun) about it, since it can also be understood as "eu sou bom". With "I am well/I am fine, thanks.'' you won´t be wrong, and it sounds natural as well. But then, I as Josi pointed out, a native insight would be welcome. "I am doing good", could also denote some activity: "How are you doing in Spanish?" - I am doing good. But it could also be used to answer the question "how are you" (or your health, to someone that you know positively that he/she was very sick recently). So, he/she could answer "I am doing very well" (meaning - I am getting better by the day/by the hour OR I am doing well/I am back on my feet/I am getting back on my feet, etc). Happy Xmas and a Happy New Year, everyone. |
