It another approach, "goes by" suggests that it flows, meaning it "passes" (passes by) if you waste it or not. Similar in kind to the feeling in Roxxete song: Spending my time Watching the days go by Feeling so small, I stare at the wall Hoping that you are missing me too I'm spending my time, watching the sun go down I fall asleep to the sound, of tears of the clown Prayer gone blind I'm spending my time The music is somehow about "wasting time", with someone being incapable of stopping both, the time and the situation or intervene in any way. But time goes by one way or the other, meaning it passes/moves. Regardless of being wasted, or spent in any way. Whether you are bored, thrilled, excited or having fun! |
