Mensagem: | Juro que nunca vou responder a uma pergunta neste forum sem tomar café antes. Eu estava pensando numa resposta sem ler a frase dele e sem pensar. Yes, the past tense of "to light" is "lit." I didn't read it correctly and my brain said "chegar" instead of "esperar." But the rule in my little story still stands. If you are waiting for a bus and you light a cigarette or pipe the bus will come right away. Then you have to extinguish the flame before you get on the bus. Today a cigarette costs about twenty cents so people don't like to throw away one that is partially smoked. Me, I don't smoke so it's not a problem. I don't ride the bus either because I live in the country. In fact, there are no buses serving my area. People ride bicycles, cars, trucks, motorscooters (electric or gas engine) and motorcycles. Now I've got to read the read of the posts to this thread!! Tom |
