Mensagem:  Yes, you can. Both examples are correct. Translate "jerk" as empurrão, solavanco, puxão in those cases. To Jerk is arrancar, retirar, arremessar. Another way of saying it is "I gave his hair a yank" from the verb "to yank" which is translated exactly the same as "to jerk" something. Here's a good sentence for you: "The teacher jerked the jerk out of the classroom and sent him to the office for punishment." I hope you like it.
