Mensagem: | Sir, There is no need to have a language inferiority complex. You see, the vast majority of Brazilians do realize that Portuguese is not a very significant language in the international arena. The only Portuguese speaking country that is somewhat segnificant is Brazil, but Brazil is just one country. The other Portuguese speaking countries (Palop) and even Portugal are rather internationally insignificant. Consequently, the language (Portuguese) also becomes insignificant. English, however, is the almighty international language. It's the language of the countries with the most money, influential cultures and the biggest guns. So by learning it, your odds of getting a piece of the pie become much bigger. I guess the Lusitano explorers lost out to the English ones. -Miguel Vieira |
