Johannes hinted at an interesting point by placing an "m" in parentheses. Strictly correct would be "Whom did Sue phone?" but 97% of Americans would not say that correctly!

"who" when subject, "whom" when object.

Who went with you? == Quem foi com voce?
Whom did you go with? == Com quem (que) voce foi?
