Mensagem:  Carlos, Both of these are correct questions: "Can you tell me where the bank is?" "Do you know where the bank is?" In the first example you are asking for directions. The person should then tell you where the bank is located. But, he/she might not tell you how to get there, only the address which might not help you. In the second example you are asking the person if they know where the bank is located. The answer might be yes or no. The question doesn't ask the person to tell you where the bank is located. The best thing to do is ask a question that meets your needs: "Would you please tell me the address of the bank and give me directions to it?" "Would you please tell me how to get to the bank and write down the address for me?" See the difference? It's like asking me if I like guarana. I'll say yes and then hope you offere me some. The question about liking it has nothing to do with offering me any.
