Mensagem:  Pat, it's very rare to find a grammar rule that is "correct" more than 90% of the time. There are exceptions, there are exceptions to the exceptions, and there are exceptions to the exceptions of the exceptions. Actually, I can think of an exception to this. No, there is an exception to my exception. I am not even sure why we talk about "rules". I think "observations" would be a better term. What would an educated speaker be expected to say under similar circumstances? I live between Big Bear Lake and Lake Silverwood. Why does "Lake" go at the end of one name but at the beginning of the other? The noun always follows the adjective, but yet Meryl Streep starred in "The River Wild".
