Mensagem:  Dar visto em alguma coisa means to take a glance at it. In this sentence you are saying that you are going to glance at some written exercises in a notebook. If, glancing at the exercises, you are correcting them then you can say "I'm going to check the exercises in the notebooks this afternoon." or "I'm going to correct the exercises in the student notebooks this afternoon." dar visto can mean to glance at something, to check something, to inspect something, etc depending on the situation
