Mensagem:  «Bob purchased new computers lately/recently.» Dale, The Present Perfect seems to be used when the past is not very well defined. This happens in cases when we use'lately, these days, recently'. To my mind it should be: B. purchased new computers last month ( well defined past) B. has bought ( been buying) a few PC's lately ( not well defined) Therefore in order not to confuse 'student'and others, have a look what proper grammarians say about it.
