Mensagem: | Hi Miguel, My eldest daughter today speaks Portuguese approximately at a 100% level for a person with her age and education, English at 95%, and Japanese at 80%. My youngest daughter has never achieved the same levels because she never had the same time of exposure to the American and Japanese environments as the eldest. She is a native in Portuguese, rather fluent in English and functional in Japanese. Keep in mind that language ability is a fluid thing. It's constantly changing for better or worse according to the environment the speaker is. So, the key is to provide different language environments and the necessary time of exposure to each one.
