Mensagem:  "beat the beJeezus out of you"

This is an old and impious saying, because "beJeezus" means the Jesus that be in you. That is an example of the archaic and irregular useage of the verb "to be", but still used modernly in African-American speech.

I believe this saying did in fact originate from slaves
