Mensagem:  In Campos de Jordao in 1999 I was surprised to find a dog that could have been my dog's twin. (My dog's name was "Cujo", the title of a book by Stephen King. Cujo was a "soma". He was soma this, and soma that. (soma = some of) A real viralata!) As I talked with the dog and his young owner, the boy's father came over to see what was going on. He said that the dog was American. He had been in Brazil for only a few months. I said goodbye and started to leave. The father called me back. He said the dog was crying. He believed that his dog had recognized the English words I had spoken and was feeling "saudades". Can you believe it??? I had to have a dog to understand how much my dad loved them. I've never had a dog lie to me or steal from me. I can't say that about humans.
