Mensagem:  Miguel, I don't think I can agree that most American slang originates from AAVE. Certainly a lot of it does, what percentage is hard to know. A great deal of slang originated from other immigrants: Irish, German, eastern European, Hispanic, etc. And some slang can be traced back to the earlier British immigrations. So it isn't overwhelmingly likely that a given example of slang will be from AAVE, but possibly more likely than from one of the other groups alone. I hope this dis-agreement doesn't upset you, as that isn't my intent. I dis-agree because I don't agree.
