Past tense action that you didn't do. You didn't buy a car. It would be better if you qualified the statement. As in: I wish I bought a car last week at the big sale. I wish I could change my job. Excellent sentence. I wish I changed my job? Also good. Changed it when/why? As in: I wish I had changed my job when the new boss took over.
