Mensagem:  Prezado Miguel, "The wind done gone": an example AAVE grammar, and also the title of an interesting book that I plan to read right away. It is the alternative story of "Gone with the wind", told from the slave perspective. Have you read either of these? "Gone with the wind", though undeniably racist, trite, and simplistic, is an extra-ordinary film nevertheless - and an enjoyable read also. If you havn't already, you should read the book and see the film - it will give you insight into the complicated nature of the South and it's people. The "Wind done gone" is written by a woman descended from slaves and slave-owners. I expect it will be quite good - and especially interesting for me as I am also descended from slave-owners (and maybe slaves too, for all I know). How do you like them apples?
