Mensagem:  Hi Ricardo! Well, that job position fizzled out (i.e., I didn't get it – I just haven't had enough practice speaking Portuguese, though I read and write it, but it was worth the try and my self-imposed immersion course really worked. In about a week I caught up on my studies after having hardly studied for a year. And, of course, I learned even more. It was a job in a town next to Portland. Go to "NetworkOmni.com" to find out about the kind of positions they have; they are based in California and have a branch office up here in the NW. The position was that of "teleinterpreter." [And see below] Portland seems like 2 cities to me: One when the sun is shining and one when it is not. It can be beautiful at both times, but I prefer the sunny days. I'm going to "paste" your paragraph here and then write it how I think it would read better: - RICARDO: I guess I´ve misunderstood you; I´ve thought we were applying for a job position here in Brazil! Are you actually applying from a job position in the US where Portuguese-knowledge may help? Portland is a beautiful city; my impression (I´ve been there 3 times)was very good! Don´t recall so well about the weather; I guess, then, this should mean something good because do not remeber something that might not be too pleasant. Let´s be in touch! - - - - MELHOR: I guess I've misunderstood you; I thought you were applying for a job position here in Brazil! Are you actually applying for a job position in the US where Portuguese-knowledge may help? Portland is a beautiful city; my impression (I´ve been there 3 times) was very good! I don't recall the weather very well. I guess, then, this is good since I do not remember anything unpleasant. Let's stay in touch. - - - My e-mail address stayed the same. I will be doing what I was doing before as an "at-home medical transcriptionist." The only way I can explain it is from a translation I had done of my resume (currículo): "Experiência com transcrição de documentos médicos inclui transcrição voltada para a produção de prontuários de pacientes não-internados em áreas importantes tais como audiologia, cardiologia, etc. . . . Também possui experiência na transcrição de prontuários de Pronto Socorro, relatórios de pacientes não-internados e radiologia." Write to me, Ana
