Absolutely. In order to not only minimize your foreign accent, but also to improve the overall quality of the language you are absorbing, you must have contact with native-spoken language. If your instructors so far have been native speakers, you are on the right path. However, if you have been exposed to a deviated language, which often occurs in Brazilian schools (especialmente nos famosos cursinhos franqueados), damage has been done. Definitely give up serialized books and grammar study and make sure you get exposure only to authentic language. Consider studying abroad as the best alternative of all. |
