Mensagem:  Yes, I agree - if most or all blacks voted they would be the most powerful political unit - is that what you meant? Of course, if all Americans in general voted, the political landscape would be very different - superficially, at least. In reality, I believe big business will always control government; in this country, in Brazil, and everywhere. If black voters were the most powerful group then the political machine would put forth a candidate that pleased black voters, but he would be owned by business interests. Notice that there are a large number of blacks in Congress now. This is a good sign of progress, but do you think they havn't had to sacrifice their agendas due to the intense pressure on legislators from lobbyists? You bet they have. If they want to get any little token crumbs for their constituants they must vote on major issues the way big business desires.
