Pat and I are going at it again. This time over the correct usage of the FUTURE PERFECT tense. I thought I had mastered this tense, but apparantly I haven't. Anyway, according to Pat the following Future perfect sentence, my sentence, is inappropiate: By the time you finish college you WILL HAVE BEEN 22years old. Is he right?
He claims that "After the past participle one must add a phrase that refers back to events earlier than the voice indicated by 'will'. Anything will do, so long as it refers to action completed before the future time, not concurrent with"
To be honest, for the first time, I feel like "he's got me" this time. Yet I refuse to give in so easily. So, I decided to ask you for confirmation, because I know you wouldn't be biased for any reason. Is his explanation as to when to use the Future perfect accurate?
