Mensagem:  Hi Mike, I disagree with your inclusion of "past" for this tense - will+have+pastparticiple. In fact I don't think "will" can ever be used to indicate past, or anteriority, because intention - by definition - indicates futurity, albeit possibly immediately enough to be considered present. To use that auxillary for past tense it seems to me one must say: "would have", or would+have+pastparticiple; "would" is the past tense of "will", after all. Consider: "I would have gone to the party had my car started" is a conditional statement about the past, right? If it were: "I will have gone to the party had my car started" it would sound out of tense, dis-combobulated. "I will have been to the party by the time you see me next" "Will" takes us into the future, "have" makes that future time the relative present, and "been" indicates anteriority from the perspective of that relative present - as you said. Let me know if you have a construction for the use of "will" to indicate past. Regards, Pat
