Thanks for your response

Consider this:

I do not dispute that there may be an approximate equivalent verb form (to the will + perfect aspect) in any number of languages (probably most – it’s human nature to want to talk about such things)

That, however, does not undermine my assertion -

English (like old germanic) has two tenses (proximate- go and remote – went) two aspects (perfect and –ing form), 9 modal auxiliaries (will, can etc) and a number of lexical pieces (going to, have to etc) – any hybrid such as the so-called ‘future perfect’ is merely a combination of the basic elements

Time is completely separate from the verb form

Labels such as ‘future perfect’ are convenient if they help learners by association of structures in their own language

They are misleading if people form a mistaken impression about the structures they are using

English has no future tense – it has verb forms to talk about intentions and plans and context and adverbs to denote temporal features.

If I say ‘andra’ in Italian I can only be referring to the future – there is no such restriction in English

Thanks
