Mensagem: | Gentlemen, The fact is, MATERIAL WEALTH belongs to the nation/community. Similarly, poverty is a community problem. No one chooses to be poor. As I said in the last posting, "no man or woman is an island". I am for a government that will force the greediest(mad-capitalists) members of society to be more accountable to the people who helped them become rich. Now, I know quite well that the socialist economic model doesn't work quite as well as the capitalist one. Nevertheless, capitalism has its flaws-namely, the better it works, the more income and wealth disparity there are. Consequently, the more resentment there'd be from the ones down on their luck, i.e the workers. Moreover, the more dispartiy there is, the more social problems there are. The crime statistics of the U.S. vis-a-vis the countries with more equitable wealth distribution is one example. For instance, there are more crimes committed in the U.S. than in any other countries with comparable populations. I wonder why? By the way Pat, I'm not for total socialization of this ecomony. I'm for decent living wages/salaries. In order words, a more well-proportioned distribution of wealth. It doesn't necessarily have to be "nearly equal", just reasonably well-proportioned. -Miguel Vieira |
