Mensagem:  Jose, I think this makes the second tme you have quoted that book, and it strikes me that it must be an interesting one. What is the title of it? I've never heard of this Bishop Lowthe, but it sounds as if he did us much dis-service. I did know that Latin rules were imposed upon English, but I had imagined that happened during the Norman reign of England. It is true, hardly anyone worries about splitting the infinitive. I rarely think of it. Another common case is with a dangling "to" at the end of a sentence: "I'd like to" or "I gotta", etc. where the verb following is implied from something said previously.
