| Mensagem: | Hi, Carlos, I live in Porto Alegre and I can assure you that's a very good city. Despite being a big city ( 1,600.000 hab ), it preservs some smaller towns habits. One can go across it in about 45 minutes. I am afraid to say this is not so "cheap" to live in Porto Alegre as you may think. I don't know what exactly what you think regarding to apartments or houses as well. There goes some prices for you: meat= R$ 7,00/kg ( $2.3 ) Coke( 2 liters )= R$ 1,70 ( $0.57 ) metro ticket= R$ 0,75 ( $0.25 ) bus ticket= R$ 1,45 ( $0.17 ) Bread( 50g )= R$ 0,20/un ($0.067 ) About violence, it's much better than Rio and São Paulo, but of course, there's violence just like in the whole world.
