Não concordo.  Either quer dizer um/uma de dois/duas coisas.

Veja o que o dicinario diz sobre either:

Main Entry: 1ei·ther
Pronunciation: 'E-[th]&r also 'I-
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English [AE]ghwæther both, each, from A always + ge-, collective prefix + hwæther which of two, whether -- more at AYE, CO-
1 : being the one and the other of two : EACH <flowers blooming on either side of the walk>
2 : being the one or the other of two <take either road>

You can have either of the cats.  (qualquer um dos dois)

You can have it either your way or my way.  (pode ter a sobremesa como voce prefere ou como eu prefiro).

You can go into the city either way.  (ir ao centro ou pelo metro ou por taxi)

John can have either car today.  (O João pode usar ou o Tipo dele ou o Ferrari do Johannes.)

See the way it's used?

I've decided to have it both ways.  I want a portion of the dessert the way you like it and a second portion made just the way I like it.  Then I can do some comparative eating!!
