It just struck me that "I'm all tapped out" could mean "I've given all I have to give, I have nothing more in me to give." Note this is similar in meaning to having exhausted all resources and how it reinforces having dust for tears.
Ignore Johannes and his rubber-tappers. Too much Heineken has that effect on some people.
