Maria Valeska,

Na Inglaterra é muito usado "to tell sb off", portanto sua frase poderia ficar assim: I told my son off for not behaving well.

You can "get told off": I was always getting told off at school when I was a kid.

"Telling off"(noun) também significa "bronca", usado em BrE como nos exemplos abaixo:

you get a telling-off: You should've heard the telling-off he got from his mum.

you give sb a telling-off: She gave the children a severe telling-off when she saw them playing near the road.
