Mensagem:  If you know your history then you know that in the 1930's the US Army did not really want to have airplanes but realized they were crucial for fighting a war.  At that time they thought the B-17 was the biggest and baddest bomber and that we would need only thirteen of them.  They would keep the prototype and buy twelve more!!  Fortunately, as they watched the war in Spain and the expansion of the Japanese Coprosperity Sphere they realized the Army needed bombers, fighters and cargo airplanes.  But the Cavalry guys fought tooth and nail against aviation.  It was not until 1947 that the aviation assets were taken away from the Army and an Air Force was formed.  The Army still has small planes and helicopters but no large cargo planes except for the one used by the Golden Knight parachute team.
