A "flush" is a hand of cards in which all cards are of the same suite (spade, club, diamonds, or hearts).
It just struck me that "we flush out our eye" with water when we have something in it. In that sense, it means to wash with water in such a way that the water carries away whatever doesn't belong there. It is very close in meaning to "to flush out" a car radiator.
