Mensagem:  Yes, we've talked about this cultural difference before - that Americans generally do not correct people, and Brazilians generally do. Brazilians correct out of a desire to be helpful. Americans don't correct because between English speakers it is considered forward and impolite. Most Americans would not give correction to an ESL learner out of fear for it being taken offensively (it wouldn't be so taken, of course). However, Americans who are learning a foreign language will not be offended by correction from speakers of that language.
