Bobbing for apples.

Tailgate trick or treating.  People stay in the parking lot at their cars.  They have candy and fruit to hand out to trick or treaters.  People in costumes go around the parking lot looking for cars with the trunks open.  They say "Trick or Treat" and get treats.

The reason it's called "tailgate" trick or treating is because many people here have pickup trucks.  They sit in the back of the truck with the tailgate down and pass out treats.  This is a new custom.  It was started by schools and churches to keep kids from walking around the neighborhoods in the dark.  So, it's done at a cental location (school, ballpark, soccer field, etc) and people take their kids there.  They park and walk around with the kids.  It's safer that way (no problems with traffic, child molesters, etc).  If you do this at a school you can invite the whole school to participate.  But if you do you had better be prepared for lots of people looking for treats.
