Assunto:  Or is he?

Hello guys

In New Interchange video there's a story about Bigfoot and in the end one of the girls say: "At least now we know that Bigfoot is just a story". And right after she says it, there's a strange noise in the woods and she says: "Or is he?"

This expression sounds a little strange to me. I tried and the only translation I could think of was "será?", meaning "Será que ele é mesmo somente estória?" Is it right? If it is I'd like to know I can use this in any situation just like we use "será?" in Portuguese.
