To get over somebody = to learn to live without someone, "to fall out of love"

 

There was a terrific song a few years.  I wish I could remember the title.  It was full of expressions with double meanings.  In one part of the lyrics the singer sang, "You got me over him."  It was a very clever line with two meanings:  (1) You helped me survive the end of my romance with him, and (2) You won my heart, not him.
