I'm sticking to "secret friend". This is what they were called when I was a kid in school, and in my sister's church they still use the same term. "Secret Santa" is obviously restricted to Christmas. A "secret friend" or "secret pal" could be for Christmas or for an entire year.
In the US we use "Kris Kringle" as another way to say "Santa Claus". Have you seen "Miracle on 34th Street"? I think that is what Santa called himself in the film.
