Mensagem:  Why did you consider it impolite, Andre? Collectively, the native-speakers are the final word on any question of a language. It doesn't exist without the native-speakers.

The full term is 'out-of-doors', commonly shortened to 'out-doors' or further to 'out-door'. This term is highly regional, I never or rarely heard it growing up, as we used the term 'out-side'. My wife uses outdoors preferentially, she was raised in New England, and like many such usages outdoors is quite British.

By the way,  Maria's English is outstandingly good.
