Assunto:  Pai de santo

If you look long enough and hard enough, you're sure to find a translation for pai de santo and terreiro.  But here's the problem; how many people will understand the translation?  You are talking in English about Brazilian culture.  In areas of New York City, around New Orleans, and maybe in other places as well you will find a very small percentage of the population with knowledge of santeria, voodoo, etc.  How about the other 99% of your listeners or readers?


I would suggest that you use the words in Portuguese, and then explain them in English.  In other words, you need to educate your listeners and readers.
