You hear "styrofoam" often in English to describe the material. The word may look formal and technical, but it is widely used.
For "cesta básica", I think you need to explain what it is. If you try a literal translation, it will not be understood. Remember, you are taking something from Brazilian culture. I vaguely recall hearing a similar term in an economics class, but it was related to the cost of the items in such a "basket" and how the cost was affected by changes in the economy, agriculture, etc. The meaning was not the same as "cesta básica", something that I became aware of in Brazil. Translations in such cases seldom work as well as explanations.
