From my point of view, the main language spoken among people in a country that retain the biggest economical power is the one everybody is supposed to know in order to be part of the globalization. However, the most part of people I met all throught my short life who, in fact, speak this language ( English) haven't moved up the social ladder because, at least, here in Brazil, if you aren't good at football and haven't born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you'll need more than just a second language to get a good life. I mean, if you don't get a degree, and high qualification, you are bound to end up teaching English and get (Apart from some good schools) a chicken salary for the rest of you life.
