It's just another one of those things. The native-speakers know what sounds right, but they usually don't know why.
If you said "half one hour" exactly like that, it would let everyone know that you are not a native-speaker, just as almost everything Isay in Portuguese would let you know I am not a native speaker. It's a nit-picky little thing, everyone would understand the meaning of it, so don't sweat it.
I merely mentioned it because I couldn't find any other mistake in your historia.
