Just taking a whack at it with whatever English my ESL mind can handle. "John sucks up to his boss a lot" "... kisses up..." Couldn't help thinking of, "John does a lot of sucking up to his boss" as a likely translation. You can substitute "sucking up to" for "kissing up to" and find out all roads lead to Rome. I just couldn't word an example with the "brown nose" verb Dale suggested because I really never used it. For one to get his nose brown, one would have to stick his/her nose deep up the boss's Hershey highway. For most politicians getting a bill or a project approved may involve some or a lot of sucking up to/kissing up to. |
