Got me! Too bad you didn't put it into context the first time around. (hint, hint...) The expression seemed weird to me, but I checked with a Gaúcha and she assured me that it meant to slap the daylights out of someone.
Question. I noticed that you used the expression "to reckon". I often hear/see Brazilians using this verb but I rarely hear/see native speakers using it. Could it be from British English? To an American's ears, it sounds very rural, muito caipira. |
