I guess in English, you'd use any fighting terminology that you would use to compete for anything. Compete is usually the translation for "disputar," isn't it? Competing for a partner Vying for the chance to dance with a certain guy/gal Trying to attract someone's attention, draw someone's attention The guys are being fought over by the ladies 'cuz there aren't enough men to go around. That's about what you had in your post, Marcos. Sounds like you know it already. I don't know of any specific terminology for this. Maybe someone else has other suggestions.
