Interessante, ne?  Talvez não seja mais do que um cumprimento para os britânicos.  Não se ouve entre norte-americanos.  Eu traduziria "God save the King" como "Que Deus proteja o Rei" ou "Viva o Rei".  Talvez esteja errado.
