Mensagem:  "If your using alive; then you're using an adjective and the correct pronunciation should be of the (i sounding as it is normally pronunced when used as a single vowel)." The letter "i" in a one-sillable word is pronounced with its short sound, for example: it, bit, quit etc. The letter "i" in a one sillable word ending in "e" is pronounced with the long sound, for example: strive, strike, Mike etc. There are exceptions for those rules, but they may be used with a reasonably degree of accuracy.
