Mensagem:  The words "crook" and "swindler" are widly used in English. However, a crook is someone who has commited a crime (or been convicted of a crime) and a swindler is someone who practices fraud in order to obtain money or property. The way I know the word xavequeiro, neither "crook" nor "swindler" is a good translation. I also have trouble finding an English counterpart actually. The translations I can think of now are: a ladies man, a flirt, a Don Juan. I don't tink any of the words is accurate, but they might help the Canadian guy understand what xavequeiro is.
