What words best describe one who habitually knocks cans over, "can knocker"?
Native speakers of Brazilian Port 1) generally call mongrels "can knockers" (vira-latas), a label into which they will also shove all other types of dogs of unknown ancestry, unleashed or stray, owned or unowned, and 2) turn some of the poor critters into road pizza by (not always accidentally) driving over them.
