Hy My friend, Elaine. It seems like you don't like these kind of expressions, or have I misunderstood you? I just assume you should consider that there are a bunch of people out there who certainly will use them among their peers, either to seem funnier or just to fool around. I mean, I've been hanging around with this Cannuck guy who very often come up with a lot of funny ones.
Mind you: the expressions: Let's make like a tree and leave, let's blow this pop stand, let's make like horse shit and hit the trail, let's bail out, let's make like Michael Jackson and beat it are frequently used by him when chatting. As a matter of fact I suppose he knows that most part of us, who hang out with him, are eager to learn English, that's the reason why he keep using it. It's nice, though, because, in my opinion, everything we learn might be useful someday. Let me know what are your thoughts on this.
