Márcio, I didn't realize it was a nickname for people from Santos.

 

My dad was a "Jayhawker".  A "jayhawk" is a bird, and a "Jayhawker" is someone from Kansas.  He called Kansas "...the Land of the Three Suns:  sunshine, sunflowers, and sons (de mães)!"  But he didn't speak Portuguese!

 

The only nickname I've heard for Californians is "Prune Picker", but it must be old fashioned.  I haven't heard it for years.

 

My mother was an "Okie" (person from Oklahoma.
