Hi folks. I need some help and I think this site has the answer.

I know that the pronunciation of the "oo" the word "good" is the same as the "u" in the word "full", I mean, it's different from the sound of "food" where the double "o" is longer. The problem is that I've contantly heard some singers pronouncing "good" similar to "food", with a long "oo". For example, there is a song by John Lennon named "Mother" where he says "goodbye" with a long double "o". Is it wrong or is this pronuciation accepted as correct?
